Center gauge cluster removal
Can the center gauge cluster be removed without removing the shifter console tunnel? Every time I had the center cluster out, the rest of the interior was also out. This time I only need to change the amp meter, snd was hoping I could do it without tearing out the shifter tunnel.

Re: Center gauge cluster removal (ettev)
You'll need to remove the lower kick panels to access two small nuts (one each side) that fasten the gauge cluster panel to the shifter console. I can't seem to describe the two long studs (more like scews) that slide into slots of the shifter console framework from the gauge cluster. Just remove the four side screws and one top screw - this on my '74 BTW- and loosen those two nuts with access up though where the kick panels were. Nuts are odd-ball size too - 9/64" or 5/32". Then gentle and carefully pull out the top of center console and push in a little at the bottom to clear those slots with the studs/screws.
Hope this helps, cardo0

Thanks everyone.
Ed.......I'll be stopping by to see your resto-project.
I have had this cluster out a few times, but always with the shifter console. When it goes back in this time I'm going to use wing nuts on the bezel studs to make future removal easier.
