Default LT1 VS L98

This thread is sparked by fevres comment of switching to an lt1 intake in Budmans post. I did some reading in C4 and it seems to me that an L98 intake with an LPE manifold would be just as good as an LT1 intake and you also would not need to modify anything. Because i was stranded yesterday after work when my car decided not to idle anymore i have been considering switching over to EFI even more lately. I have 3 months insurance on it so i am going to make the best of it and then my winter project will hopefully consist of EFI swap, junkyard hydroboost(stop on a dime and get $500 change  ) and if i feel overly energetic maybe a paint job. But definately something will be done about the intake.

Yes, "supposedly" you can eliminate the L98's dead spot in the higher rpms with this and that. If that is true than you would have a reliable setup without having to worry about the opti spark in the LT1.

Ask around the C4 general section, those guys have been there done that.

On my '91 L98 vert I switch to the LPE Super Ram, 58mm TB, and lower intake and never had a problem w/ LT1's after that. :D

0-75mph a L98 will take a LT1 all things equal, but after the the L98 w/ it's long tubes begins to have an asthma attack and the LT1 will run away from it. Spend the $1,000 on a used Super Ram setup have have the torque of the L98, but the hp of the LT1.

battsup, there is a guy that drag races a 79 at the corvette challenge (very successfully) who recently converted to EFI. I think he used an Edelbrock unit that pretty much bolted on. He was very happy with it; improved gas mileage about 50%. Not sure if he is a forum member tho. :) MJ
