Default cooling problem

I have a weird problem. I just put in an aluminum radiator and the car will idle at 150 all day but when you get movin at a higher rpm the engine heats up to 220 and does not rise any more I have a new bottom hose but the top is the original. But my original radiator cools of when cruising and heats up at idle? I am going to take it on the interstate and will be back in 20 so tell me what you know.

Sounds like the new bottom hose might be missing the spring inside which keeps it from colapsing. When you drive on the highway the hose is becoming restricted. Did you happen to change the water pump? It may have the wrong impeller direction.

Did you seal the perimeter of the radiator to force the air through it and not around it?

:iagree: It sounds like you didn't install the seals between the radiator and the core support. At idle, the fan cal pull enough air through the radiator to keep the car cooled properly. At speed the air may be passing through the gaps around the radiator instead of being forced through the core.
