Default Gettin' back - back on track (get off my back) - frame repair PICS

Well, after a week or two prepping for our party, I'm finally getting back
on track. I've been down in the garage until midnight for the last few days.
Here are the pics, showing the limited progress on my frame rail repairs:

Fisrt, this is how it has looked for over a week:

Just before starting to cut replacement pieces, I poked around and found
more rot, where I thought there was none. I covered this area (rear wall
under kick-up) with two new layers of 1/16":

Next, I placed and welded the two vertical pieces:

Last night, the outer piece was completed and put into place.

All that's left on this side is to trim up the outer piece at the end,
get some paint in end cavity, and put an end-cap in place.

Also, there's some unfinished work on the inside corner, so I will be tackling
that as soon as the frame is flipped back over. My welding skills still suck, but
I'm damn good at grinding. Thanks to whoever suggested a flap disc on the
grinder - it works great !

Yeah - it's my home PC serving it up - so bandwidth is not unlimited.
The right mouse button over the picture - and "show picture" usually does the trick.
If still no luck - refresh.

Thanks Packy. I need to get the ball rolling - so we can have another cruise-in
and I can actually cruise. Besides - you guys will get sick of driving to my place everytime. :p:

dagnabit - looks like I made the title too long - huh ?

Wow! That’s an impressive effort.
Seeing your pix makes me worry about my cars metal work. I had purchased my shark with California roots and a scar-free frame hoping to do a frame-on resto. The rear most body mounts are visibly rotted but the front pucks are just stress-cracked and intact and haven’t looked inside the access covers yet. But reading now about the birdcage corrosion creates new questions about how much metal is behind the fiberglass panels. Has anyone ever replaced the whole birdcage? How bad can it get Dave?
