Help, my hood does not open!
As of yesterday, when I pull the hood release handle, the driver's side of the hood pops up, but not the passenger side.
What can I do? What do I need to do?
Thanks,
Matt

You should be able to gently pry it up enough to get your hand (or pliers) underneath. Grab the latch mechanism with the cable and pull it toward you (perpendictular to the car's length). That should unlatch the other side. You will need to adjust and lubricate the cables once you have it open, or it will happen again.

I had that happen to me many times, you lift the driver's side and slide your arm underneath, grab the cable and pull up or back towards the windshield. to make it easier, have someone on the other side of the car press down on the hood where the latch is. if all else fails thers a plastic circle that you can pop out in the windshield wiper compartment, you can then stick a tool in and grab the latch and pull it. Its probably impossible to do it unless you look at someones corvette with their hood open. I know its possible. Goodluck, and don't get too frightened, just get your hand in there, she'll go. :yesnod:

That ain't fun that's for sure. Been there... done that. I actually made a hook out of 1/4" OD rod and slid it across under the back of the hood and pulled the latch itself. Had to slightly pry open the driver's side to get underneath. After you get it open check for cable slack and paint the edges of the locking pin with something white(and will come off) and slightly press the hood down on it on the passenger side. Don't lock it! Just enough to make an imprint on the hood lock itself to see if you need to adjust the pin to get it more centered.
Don't even ask about going through the wheel well to undo the front of the hood as a last resort. Thhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
Good luck!

You mean they aren't supposed to work that way?! Who knew?! Mine has been that way the entire time I've owned it. That's very low on my priority list of things to fix. My cable wasn't properly attached to the firewall (and distributor shroud. WHO THOUGHT THAT UP?!). So I attached a tiewrap to it and voila, works perfect...or close enough until I fix all the other stuff that is bubba'd.

Try this. Pull the hood latch while you hold down the D/ side of the hood, after the P/side pops then lift the D/side.

Been There....went to my mechanic with cash in hand and tears in my eyes, anticipating the bill...I am now crying because I do most of the work myself now...
