Popping from exhaust when shifting...
My car just starting doing this the other day when I had it out. It happens when I am accelerating hard enough to open the four barrels. When I let off to shift, there is a loud pop from the exhaust. What would cause this? Why would it start doing this all of a sudden? I haven't made any changes to the carb or timing.

Re: Popping from exhaust when shifting... (JohnS_77)
Mine "pops" all the time when decelerating from a hard run. I know lots of other cars that do the same thing. I think it is somewhat normal, depending on certain engine/exhaust factors. But I'm not sure why yours would just start for no reason, are you sure it didn't always do that? Maybe you always had the radio up too loud to notice before. :D

I love that sound :D
Mine started doing it when I improved the breathing with a 2 1/2" system and high-flow mufflers after the headers.
Wouldn't go back.
