I installed the whole assembly. It's pretty straightforward after you remove enough stuff (AC components, vac hoses, heater hoses) to get room to remove and reinstall. you will need a 3/4" spacer to install between the blower motor flange and the evap case. Also the elect plugs on the blower motor and your wiring harness will not match and you will need to change one to match up.
I think there is a thread in the corvettefaqs on this.

I changed mine and used a 3/4 spacer and saw that there still was room between the cage and the fan housing then tried a 5/8 spacer and it did not rub at all.I think that less room between the cage and the housing would result in less air short circuting, and more air to the outlets.

Did the C4 motor make a big difference over the C3 motor.

I used a 5/8" spacer also, the difference was only slightly more than the original motor, maybe 15%-20% more air. The real problem is the seals inside the ducts behind the dash. If you can reseal everything the stock blower will put out quite a bit of air.

I looked on the corvettefaq site, but did not see a link. If I understand this correctly you use a spacer between the evaporator box and the blower. Where do you get the spacer? What do you make it from? I sure could use a little more air flow.

Im with Smokehouse, I sealed all the duct work while I was restoring the dash... BIG difference in air flow, bought the seal kit from Covette Central and also used some other self adhesive foam backed tape (local hardware store) correct sealing is critical
