I'm off to the races at Bonneville Salt Flats.
I will be out at Bonneville Salt Flats August 15th through 18th. I am hoping to make a couple of runs and get my 200 mph certification. I'd like to meet up with any forum members that show up. It really a one of a kind event. I'm going out with a group of racers so we will have a large tent with plenty of refreshments.
I want to get my Cert. and then put my name out as driver for any fast vehicles.

One last picture. I don't know the year of the pink Vette. It was brand new and only completed a couple of days before bringing it out. They should be back. This event has the most entries ever I was told.
I'm the perfect size for most cars because my 5'10 170 lbs fits in all the tight roll cages. I'm sure that with 5 minutes of instruction I could get used to any vehicle. I believe that anything going under 300 mph is pretty safe!:)

Re: I'm off to the races at Bonneville Salt Flats. (e3pres)
e3pres - I have been told it only takes about 500 hp to exceed 200 mph in our later year C-3 Vettes with lowering and proper rake. The more hp you have just gets you there faster.
The flat rear window cars get more a sloped rear window to help them out.

David - I'm happy to help you get your car going. Get a new balancer
How does it go?

Just for clarification of my inability to read between the lines. You are taking your car to go and race on the Salt Flats and are expecting to go 200 MPH in your car? Or do you have a race car you will be taking to go 200 mph, or do you have to go 200 MPH to get a 200 MPH cert? Not saying your car isn't a race car as I have heard Norris' stories about riding with you and he still breaks in a cold sweat and cant sleep for days after talking about it.

Re: I'm off to the races at Bonneville Salt Flats. (Maurice)
Maurice - I decided to not butcher my car any further. It's a nice dailey driver as is. I even drove it to work today! Then on weekends i can still head to the road racing track and do some hours of laps.
They now require Parachutes for anything over 200 mph. My car exceeded 200 mph nearly 2 years ago at the Salt flats with a lessor motor than I have now. It wasn't certified because I didn't meet all the safety inspections. I was lacking window netting and metal strapping for my rear window.......... I might do it someday just to have a certified 200+ street car. Maybe get in a Vette magazine:)
So I'm going to drive a friends 230 mph race car. They time you for a mile. You get a 3-4 mile run at the flying mile timed section.

It goes. Having some weird noises from the rear end and now the Diff Yokes are leaking like hell.... I don't really feel like tearing the rear end out of the car at this point, so I'm just gonna keep re filling it til I can get a Tom's Diff 12 bolt.
