Does this sound like a blown head gasket?????
A couple of days ago, i did a 20 mlie motorway journey.. the engine temp was fine, no probs... However, when i parked the car i heard a bubbling sound from under the bonnet.
On investigation, i saw that water/air was bubbling up into the water bottle as if there was air in the system or water boiling somewhere.
The next day i completely flushed out the system and took her out for another drive.... same sort of thing when i parked up, only the boiling sound seemed to be coming from in the engine somewhere and water was almost gushing out of the radiator's pressure cap.
Checked the cap a bit later and it seems fine.
So... seems to be too much pressure in the system all of a sudden? ... and that boiling/ bubbling noise?
Does this sound like a blown head gasket??? (GROAN!)

Check oil dipstick for water. Check tailpipes for white smoke. Refill coolant with 50/50 for another check and see if problems still exists. my .02

Check that both the thermostat & rad cap haven't failed.
Even if there's no water detectable in the oil there could still be a gasket problem. Take it to a decent garage & they should be able to do a simple test on the coolant to see if there are exhaust gasses in it.
Good luck

Sounds like your thermostat is on its way out. I'd replace both of these just for peace of mind. They're cheap.

thanks for the tips everyone.
... just went to my local US Spares shop (been there ALOT recently!) and bought a new rad pressure cap.... i thought i would try the cheapest option first & hope this is the problem (please dear lord).
i've given it a little whizz down the road and it actually seems to be holding!!!! (YAY!) I'll see how it goes when i drive back to London on the motorway.
If this fixes the problem i will be SO pleased! :yesnod:
thanks again guys
