I need a pic of the jack when stowed away. My cars rear compartment area came in pieces and I'm not sure what its supposed to look like all put together.

Both pics are taken, me standing outside the car on the passenger side and kinda getting in there. The second pic shows how it's held down, that springy kind of piece of metal is hooked on to the second "clampy" thing with the W shaped piece of metal. The spring is attached to the car with pop rivets as you can see in the first pic... I'm not sure how good that explanation was, but the pics should speak more than enough!

Steve,
Perfect! Thanks, that is exactly what I needed to see. I didn't know there was supposed to be a spring hold-down. Needless to say I will need to get one. However I think I have a small bungie cord that is about the right length. I have those "clampy things" but I never knew what they were for. Thanks, allot. I am in the middle of completely restoring the interior and I wanted to make sure I didn't mess it up. The previous owner had the jack inside the tray (what was left of it  ) that is supposed to go on top of it.

As you can tell, mine is in "not so good" shape. Are you restoring yours?
Know a good way to go about cleaning these bad boys up?

I hade mine sandblasted by a friend then repainted it black, While I had the rear cargo area apart I sprayed the tubs with rubberized soudproofing paint . it came out really well.

Steve, great picture. I don't have the spring either. I used a wire brush on a drill to clean mine and then a coat of rust reformer and a spray of black paint. I used silicone to recondition the rubber ring on the handle. It's not NCRS, but it works for me.

I was thinking of buying a can of truck-bed liner and painting it with that. It should be rugged and last a long time and also help with noise, but it will look good and thats the most important thing :D . That is still a couple weeks away but I will post some pics when I get it done.

OH... and I am going to repaint the jack as well so it looks nice. Not that I will ever look at it when I'm done. But at least I will know it looks good and I didn't do a half-azz job.
