Default Texas inspection tips...

Pretty darn simple.... find an inspection shop where the owner parks his '70 yellow 454 coupe out front every morning. Yep.... looks like a '71 vette to me.

To be completely honest they did start it and drive it into the inspection bay.(End of inspection)

And got it registered as a classic with my own '71 plates too boot. That took awhile as they bounced me out of there 2 times going to pick up insurance(figured my liability on the truck & other vette was good enough) and back to the inspection place to pick up the green card. The chix at my State Farm agency looked at me like I was crazy for asking if they could insure at the same rate as Hagerty. Oh well.... they were cute anyway. :D

So that's the trick to getting your vette back on the street, just buy another one. :lolg:

Dam!! You caught on. Even had to pop it through the gears once after I got it all legal. I've got some carb issues as it stutters a bit at first, but she boogies!! I'm gonna definitely take this one to HRP just to see what a stock 454/365HP will do in the 1/4.

I spent the last couple of hours prepping the '74. Hooking the magnetic pickup from the MSD ignition to the distributor put fire into the motor. It's just popping back at me, so I might be 180 degrees out on the distributor. I'm again charging the battery(just for sake) and will go pull the valve covers and see if I can't see where I went wrong here in a little bit.

Why inspect it? Aren't you Antique or Classic, both are exempt.

Texas has rules that *Antiques* are for parades(etc) only and thus no inspection. I know.... I know.... some register as antique and do what they want. Registering as a *Classic* only allows the option of special plates or using plates from the year your car is. As long as the guy with the '70 keeps inspecting cars I can live with it. Freebie!
