Default Undercar Insulation???

I looked at a 69 vette this weekend and saw that there was some undercar insulation installed on the firewall and under the car. This insulation had a foil backing to it and looked like it should help out with interior heat. Would the 70 have this undercar insulation also? Mine has none. I may have to add this to my shopping list. Does your car have undercar insulation?

Thanks for any help.

Eddie, my '69 has the insulation and I just finished replacing all of it. It was only used on '68 and '69 cars. There are 2 underbody splash shields per side on these cars. The angled plastic shield mounts to the firewall and joins together with the flat metal underbody shield that runs back to the transmission crossmember.

The insulation itself mounts to the fiberglass floor pans with these evil little pointed clips. Then it is sandwiched between the floor and the underbody splash shields. I don't think that it would be easy to retrofit this onto a '70+ car, since all the metal clips are riveted to the floorpans.

Here's a few crappy pics I just took. You can see the white plastic shield, the black metal underbody shield, and the silver foil insulation.

Hi Eddie,
Our cars have two pieces of insulation call: 1) Under tunel insulation 2) collar insulation.
I purchase mine from Paragon Reproduccions, Best priceses.
Under tunel insulation 30,00, Collar insulation 15,00. you will also need the clips to hold the under tunel ins. in place.
Good Luck.

Thanks Shannon and Eduardo. I was thinking maybe I had missed something while I had the motor and tranny out. I do have the tranny tunnel insulation installed. But I didn't install the collar insulation because I couldn't figure out how or where it attached. So it is just setting on the shelf at this point. I may install it later if I ever figure out exactly how and where it attaches to.

Thanks for your help guys.
