Pin HOLE in GAS tank!!!
Is there anyway I can repair the gas tank? It is a pin hole easily accsesible when you remove the spare tire carrier in the bottom of the tank. :cry :mad

Re: Pin HOLE in GAS tank!!! (Corvettelvr73)
2 ways.
1. Go to the local parts store. They sell a putty / 2 part epoxy that is made for gas tanks. I don't know if you can put it on a wet tank or not, but it is supposed to work. You could also drain the tank and let it dry, then us JB weld.
2. Drain the tank, drop it out of the car and take it to a radiator shop. They specialize in tank repair. The will weld / solder it up.

Good news!
they still make new tanks or c3's!
Get it while you still can.
YOUR tank is SHOT. And a safety hazard.

Gotta agree with Matt here. If there is one pinhole now, there are many more waiting in the wings to pop open in the future. Spring the $$$ for a new tank. I went down the path of trying epoxy repairs and it was an exercise in futility.

go to http://www.quantaproducts.com/
My 1970 project car had 2 pinholes showing, when a radiator shop boiled it out it was a row of holes, not worth repaiing.
Buy a new one if it's maybe more than one hole...

Re: Pin HOLE in GAS tank!!! (Corvettelvr73)
yup...ditto on the I agree...but for what it's worth, back around 73, I had zillion pin holes in my tank, and was poor as heck...so, I sanded the area with 80 grit paper, mixed some resin, laid glass over the area, and it held. When I did the frame off resto in 2000, I bought a new tank from Quanta.
