Default Plugged Bypass valve..

Is there any negative side to plugging the bypass valve, other than you`ll have to change the oilfilter more often to be on the safe side?

When you first start your car in cold weather the oil pressure will be very high. To avoid having an oil filter blow up be sure that you use a quality filter.
If you are going to drive in the winter then an oil preheater would lessen the problem.

I block the bypass on the motors that I have built, but I would be afraid to use a short filter with a paper element. I am paranoid of the element collapsing. I use a system1 cleanable filter . It is a very fine mesh cartriage enclosed in aluminum casted housing. The advantage is that you detect engine problems easily and the filter wont collapse even under high pressure.

yes
i always use the long filter (#35 instead of 25)
My 67 289 ford does not have a bypass, so cold can't be all that bad.
avoid Frams, they have a small filter element
