Heater Control Valve under hood went South, What did you guys do to fix it?
I have seen this "fix" posted many times here, but in my old age cant remember the best way to fix this problem. It is just a vacuum controlled junk plastic valve on my '76 and I cant see replacing it if there is a better solution to the problem! Can I just put a manual positive shut off in replacement and leave the valve closed when I dont want to use the heater or what? Any and all helpful replys will make me want to

:withstupid: ooooops, sorry Dwayne! :iagree: My valve was / is working, but just not 100%. This really cut down on the cockpit heat as well!

What a great pic.....THANX! I assume it is OK to leave the valve completely closed until I want to use the heater, Correct ? Thanx Again! TOM :seeya

1/2 inch NPT plugs. One for the manifold and one for the water pump. then a small knife to remove the hoses from the core. Been :steering: ever since and never missed the heater once!

Glad to hear it Paul, but you are in San Diego, while I am in Michigan. Some of our early/late season cruises here do call for a heater.
