Love at first sight... can hurt!
My brother in-law thought he would by a Corvette also, so he found a 74 coupe and bought it. Problem was he didn't get a good look at the frame. Here's a couple pics, you fill in his caption.

Oh no :banghead: Is the rest of the car okay? If so, new frame. May I suggest you have it Hot Dip Galvanized.

"Birdcage" is the windshield/T-top frame assembly - made of steel, frequently found to be rotten.
What I want to know is, what was holding the back of the car together? I would think one good bump and it would fall apart.
As for a caption:
"Oh yea!, my vette handles great, it's just a little loose in the rear end. I think it needs new shocks..."
