1970LT1 distributor problems
The distributor for my 70 LT1 was removed and unfortunately the exact wiring was not recorded. When we put it back in the engine it would crank but we didnt have any current to the plugs or coil. We had wired it as follows - the condenser and a ground to the negative side of the coil and a hot wire to the positive side. It would crank but not fire. We then replaced the distributor with a breaker point type and it started. Did we wire the transistor distributor wrong. The original distributor functioned when it was taken out of the car so figure it should still work. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks Jim

Re: 1970LT1 distributor problems
Jim,
Afraid that I don't have access to my car or references right now, but perhaps this might help.

A 1969 (K-66 section) or 1970 (LT-1 section) AIM will also be helpful.
If you still have problems, just post another request here and I'll see what I can do for you this evening when I have all of my references available.
Good luck!
Regards,

the "TI" system uses a specific coil and harness not to mention that pesky amplifier box, is it safe to assume you have those pieces installed?? And while your checking things the ground on the amp box seems to be a problem spot also. ...redvetracr

Stan- Have seen that wiring schematic you furnished. It seems we had it wired as outlined. Am now wondering if I will have to get some sort of trouble shooting sequence for the distributor its self. Thanks Jim

Did you happen to remove the wires from the starter at the time you removed the dist? You might have the leads rev so you are not getting juice to the coil during crank. I would verify juice to the coil during crank. Coil might have crapped out you too. They can go under the most unusual circumstances. :)
