Whats it worth? 69 vette
Just wandering what the value of my fathers vette is.. Its a unrestored 69 with monza red paint, standard black interior, white convertible top, and a black vinyll hardtop. It has the m20 trans with a 3:08 rear. The top paint and interior are the original as well as the hardtop. Took the build sheet off the car not too long ago and everything matched up. The car has a L36 427. The paint looks clean till you get right up on it and you see spider cracks here and there and there is a almost inch long stress crack on the right front fender. There car is completely unrestored and has all original components... the smog equipment is in a box in our garage. The interior is exceptional other than a small rip in the passenger seat. the car has headrest and the am/fm pushbutton radio. The milage is 71,600 on the orignal engine/trans/rear and we have the protecto plate , tank sticker, owners manual, and the original spare in our garage. :chevy

If the car is as original and unmolested as you say, and you still have the tank sticker and other docs, I'd say it's worth mid $20k region. Should be a good candidate for Bloomington Survivor or NCRS Bowtie judging.

What do you guys think it would take to get it into the 30k range? Frame off resto would probly help... but to many the car is worth more unrestored from what Ive put together

Mark,
Sounds like a really neat car your father has... That L-36/M-20 power team is a good one!

yea... 'ol dad is usually pretty uptight with the car but he floored it at a stoplight in downtown nashville during the 50th celebration for the crowd on the streets.... couldnt get the smile off my face . The engine has never been rebuilt and still runs pretty stout

Re: Whats it worth? 69 vette (Stingray Mark)
You ask a fair question, and I am not sure anyone here, but an NCRS judge could really answer it...since your dad's car is a #s-matching, well-documented, original car. :)
To someone who is really into originality, it may be worth high-$20s, I think. Maybe being its an L36 vs. an L71/L89 makes it less valuable??? I wouldn't think it would be a huge deal, but I'm no expert.
I paid $20k for a restored, NOM, L71 '69 roadster with less than stellar docs. But then again, I am not one who is looking for originality or even #s-matching... b/c I'm a hot-rodder who just wanted a really clean, 100% reliable BB roadster that I would drive often and have fun with.

Tough to say, but it will not bring a whole lot more than the low $30K because it's the L36, your entry level 390hp 427. If it were a L71 or L89 $45K+ is possible, in '69 they made 10,531 L36 427's and was not "rare" by any means.
She sounds like a beauty, post some pics.

. I'd looking into get it survivior certified if everything is original. Looks very similar to my '68 only I have red interior and side exhuast.
Very rice ride. [/QUOTE]
I was supprised when I first rode in the car... the mechanical perfmance was very crisp and it drove way smoother than I expected. Even the little things in this car work... like the origianl radio, but as usual the clock is doesnt. I love red interior in the 68-72's  My 72 vert is red/red white top
