Default Looking at 1977 need some help.

I am interested in the a 1977 Corvette and I was wondering if anyone knew if this vette was rare.

First the vette is an original owner. The guy brought in 77 in Chicago, then he moved to California till 1989 when he moved to upstate NY. He garages it 365 days a year and puts about 2000 miles a year on it. The car has 84k miles on it. It is a L48, but it is a 4 spd, no Power Windows and no AC. It has original paint, original motor, and original tranny. Only small things need repairs like the carpet is a little worn where your foot is on the gas petal. Minor stone chips on the nose. He is asking $6750 for it. I looked in the NCRS guide and found the following numbers. Does anyone know if this vehicle is rare due to the no power windows and no A/C?

Total 1977s - 49,213
W/O PW - 4872
W/O AC - 3964
M20 4SPD - 5922
Dark Red Color - 4057

Is it safe to safe that this car could be 1 of around 2000 made, in Dark Red, no A/C and no PW?

Thanks for the help.

No it is NOT RARE BY any means  and will probably have no collector value EVER....however if it is in good shape and a 4 speed is a big advantage I would think that it would be a great buy at that price though......btw not having A/C would decrease the value for sure

I understand not being that valuable in terms of options but in terms of the amount of cars produced with those options? Something you might not see too often.

Yes for a 77, most were loaded. The 4spd. is good. A collector normally wants a fully loaded model. Again the 4 spd. is a plus & the lack of a/c may not be a problem to sell up north.

You might want to see 77 Facts on my website.

When I picked up my 1977 it had 92k miles. It was also indoor stored and had everything original including paint, L48, 4 speed. It also has minor interior issues, minor paint chips, no power windows, no A/C. That price is close to what I paid for mine (after converting to Canadian dollars).

If you want to know if it is going to be worth something some day check the frame, rad mount, front windshield supports and trailing arms for rust. I'd say that the amount of rust on the car will be a bigger factor in how much it is worth rather than the options it has/doesn't have.

How does the 77 feel road wise? Is there enough power to get up and go? I am not looking to race anybody. I am just looking for something to cruise around in. Does the engine have a little rumble to it?

Honestly I expected a little more out of the stock V8, but I wasn't disappointed. I test drove a 2002 Subaru WRX a few weeks before I got my vette. The vette had quite a bit more pull than the WRX, especially from a stand still. The WRX was a bit gut-less until the turbo kicked in at 3000RPM.

After I did headers, dual exhaust, rejetted the carb, recurved the distributor and a complete tune up she was good to go! I am impressed with how well she handles, especially since the suspension is original and 26 years old. Best way to find out for yourself is to take her out for a test drive. :steering:
