Default Edelbrock intake/holley carb

I am wanting to use my stock 73 air cleaner, but use an Edelbrock intake with Holley carb. Question -- Will the stock air cleaner fit the Holley and will the stock hood clear the stock air cleaner???

Well I don't know for sure if the stock air cleaner will fit the Holley but If you need an adapter plate between the intake and carb you might run into hood clearance problems. You could fix that by getting an aftermarket air cleaner with drop base and/or a lower profile air filter.

Well, on my 73, I couldn't get the stock air cleaner over the 4165 because the filter and floatbowls were trying to occupy the same space.

I have an Edelbrock intake Holley 650 DP, ,and a stock (black base chrome top) air cleaner on my 69. 350, stock hood, no spacers, no adapters, and NO problems.

Welcome to the forum.

The 73 cowl induction a/f base will not allow the use of the center pivot Holley's w/o basically hammering the base for clearance . The spreadbore type Holly's with their side hung floats will .I don't know about the electic choke models, never used one.

You will though have enough clearance to shut the hood with a Performer manifold and your stock air cleaner .

I am using the Holley spreadbore #4175 but I had to make a riser for it to work. It hits on thge Vacuum secondary module. Still have a little clearence but not much.
