Default Yet another weird little problem

So I was driving home today, and going around a corner I heard the tell-tale "click" of a low-current wire shorting out somewhere. As soon as it did, the voltmeter pegged as far left as it could, the alternator light came on, the tachometer dropped to zero, and the choke light came on. Since it's been raining pretty heavily, I haven't had a chance to see if the choke is actually, well.. choking.

It looks like it does when you turn the key to the on position but haven't started the engine yet.

Any suggestions as to what I should start looking for?

Sounds like fun....not. I guess you could start by checking your battery connections for looseness or corrosion. Then maybe look for a loose ground under the dash. Good luck.

Had the same problem on my 77. Was the 10 amp gauges fuse.

That's exactly what it was, 'cept it was 20 amp in my 81. Thanks.

Glad to be of help. I was worried when it happened to me. I had just added electric door lock and had screwed with a lot of the electrical.
