9 Second IRS C3........... :D
Here is a picture for those who don't believe single digits are possible w/ IRS setups. :D Last I seen him he ran a 9.70, not sure of the mph.
This is a local car, I have spoken w/ this guy several times. It's a 383 w/ a unknown shot of N20 and he's running the stock IRS (I looked under the car, looks legit to me) w/ upgraded u-joints, possible half shafts.
You can see the leaf spring underneath the rear of the car.

There's a dark green C-2 convertible here on the Forum (can't remember who's, it's on the east coast I think) that runs high 9's with a small block, 'glide, Toms 12 bolt IRS and a healthy shot of nitrous. Looks stock and just flys!
It can be done. If you price what it costs to build a serious rear end for a Camaro or whatever, you'll find you aren't completely out of the ball park on a killer Vette IRS. Maybe out by the fence....but you're still in the park!
PS- I love the way that C-3 looks on a launch!

This guy has been brought up before but I thought I would mention him again,
He is from the NE, thinking New Jersey , anyway he has a beige 79 model or thereabouts . It looks absolute stock in appearance and runs capped rear radials , small block, q-jet , automatic and runs the 9's with get this--rams horn manifolds. :yesnod:
He was tight lipped but admitted to it being very high compression and alot of stealthy introduced nitrous and remote exhaust cutouts
He made a magazine several years ago..possibly some of you have seen this car ?
