Squealing sound...source?
Hi,
I just replaced my fan/alternator belt and as part of the process I had to remove and reinstall the power steering pump on my 78-350...long story.
Anyways, all belts are in place and I started her up and everything sounds fine...until I hit the gas...once the rpm's go past 1500, it makes a squealing noise...
I don't want to drive her until I figure out what the source is...could it be my power steering pump pulley is not lined up.? I can't see anything touching anything. Maybe I didn't put something on right when replacing the v-belt?PLEASE HELP!
Thanks.

Sounds like a loose belt.
... or often oil/grease gets on the belts and/or pulley grooves.
This will allow them to slip at higher speeds.
Clean 'em up good with isopropyl alcohol or a quick wipe down with lacquer thinner.
PS belts gotta be tight, too.
