Air Cleaner Seal on 1973

Re: Air Cleaner Seal on 1973 (Lyman Ring)
It doesn't have any adhesive. The rubber ring has a groove that fits around the air cleaner housing thingy.
If the rubber is seperating, then try some super glue to glue it back together to itself.

but if you must, try 3M's Weatherstrip and Gasket Adhesive, or 3M's Plastic Emblem & Trim Adhesive.

Are you talking about the butt-joint in the rubber seal that makes it into a "ring", or the way it attaches to the air cleaner?

Ok. As the others have stated there is no adhesive used to attach the rubber seal to the air cleaner, there is a lip molded into the seal that is supposed to fit tightly around the metal adaptor ring. It may be that the rubber is old and that lip is either stretched or broken, or it may have just come off and needs to be stretched back onto the adaptor ring.
Although the correct seal is not available anymore, you can get a replacement seal from several of the vendors (I think I got mine from Riks). It will be larger than the original and needs to have a section cut out of it and be glued back together. I used cyanoacrylate (super glue) to glue the seam in mine and it has held together very well for a couple of years now.
Edit:
The restoration store has them for $62.00 each. http://store.yahoo.com/zipproducts/e...--flanges.html

I picked one up last year from a vendor at Bloomington Gold. Advertised as being the correct size. It fit perfect. Do not remember the name of the vendor off hand. Will check tonight to see if I have it at home. They do mail order business.
