Re: The Longer I Own This Car (fst_c3)
I had been doing little more that driving mine -- while letting my '72 Blazer suck up some of my time/funds.
But now I'm back around to spending time/money on the Vette -- already did new calipers -- next up new radiator and pair of Spals -so I can get the AC redone ----- also going to try my hand at bonding a big old cowl hood scoop to a spare hood ---- did I mention I have power steering hoses coiming ---- theres about 4 weekends and 1/2 a paycheck ---just that quick and easy......

tnt, you got THAT right!!!!......but the funny part is, problems can be solved only by time and patients, and I"m NOT a MD....so I have to solve MY problems with cheaper way to go to get me there.....
AND besides, it's more fun to just do your own thing, than bolt in someone elses' kit.....IMO.....

It's all worth it though as eventually I will have the best of the C-3 world. One big block that is nice to cruise around in and a small block version to hit the drag strip with(and possibly break... original engine still available to put it back the way it was).

Re: The Longer I Own This Car (OHSIXX)
I know what you mean...I have been "building" my car since I brought it home a little over a yaer ago. The money and time have been really getting to me and the car is finally at a point where I can drive it more so that what I am doing. It still needs a lot but I decided to drive it until next year then start working on it again. Helps to keep sanity!

My 72 (Classic White, 350, 4 speed) is currently under surgery!! (new trailing arm assemblies, calipers, rear end, gas tank and major clean up on the frame and underbody). I guess ther are worse habits!!!
:D

From where I sit, much of what you are spending (astro top, flame ball, valve covers, etc), based on your threads, are for non essentials. They are for cosmetic and customizing. I will happily spend money for those items. You can always stop.
Time is what a hobby is about. If you weren't spending it on the vette, wouldn't it be spent on another passion (assuming there could be another one. :D ). Now if the time interferes with family, friends or work, then there is an issue.
I have managed to spend less than $150 in the last 13 months, have driven a 60 footer with a tired engine, well worn interior , $^$&* paint job with no wipers 2300 miles, and enjoy it. I don't predict any greater spending on average for the next 3 or more years.
Money doesn't have to be spent. I am happy enough to just enjoy the looks and comments it gets and the feeling I get driving it for now.
Hope I am not out of line here.

[QUOTE]Thats the joy of having a old Corvette.
Sometimes its good to just back away for a few weeks and try to forget them.

I just took about 6 months off from cars. My attitude is much better and I deal with all the little problems much better.

Maybe I am wrong, but it seems like the car is getting the better of you.

When I read threads where someone replaces a starter and 2 weeks later the tranny quits, and 3 weeks later the heater core c%&ps out, I get the frustration as I have been there myself.
Sorry to have rattled your feathers. As I mentioned, in my other post,
Hope I am not out of line here..
I want to apologize as it seems I was.

Don't worry about my "feathers", but you should be a little concerned about your rather obvious jealousy.
Your apology is appropriate and accepted! :)
