Default What gives with the GTech HP measurements ?

Got 195HP, am I missimg something here, it was chassis dynoed at 285RWHP before I added a new cam and intake and feels much stronger now.

I put in 3366lbs and I think it is pretty level, tried it three times to redline in first and second and got less than 200 HP each time

Could it be that on the chassis dyno you usually run in drive at WOT? With the Gtech aren't you just accelerating through the gears. I don't know just guessing.

I am doing something wrong or it's not working properly, it is supposed to be close to chassis dyno numbers with a few percent difference for wind resistance.

I havn't much faith in the GTech, its a neat toy, but IMO, usless. In my case I think its pretty darn close, at 195 HP. But I don't know, and wont until the chassis dyno.

This is what I was afraid of, I don't need a toy, was looking for a tuning tool. From what I have seen from other posts and looking at the the mods to the motor along with the 0-60 times the HP seems to be reasonable. I know for a fact I have a little ( at least 100 ) more than what I am getting.

What I am trying to figure out if I am doing something wrong. I make sure it is horizontal, I enter the wieight of the car I got from the dumo, press the button wait for it to say GO and go to 5000RPM in 1st and 2nd and it spits out ~195HP

I think the POS is going in the Buy and Sell :mad
Good thing I didn't pay $250CND for it

Wayne, are you getting any wheel spin on your takeoff? If not, then maybe that unit is defective? If you want you can try mine and see if you get the same results. There is NO WAY your car is only making 195HP. That is impossible, my car makes about that, and my motor is nowhere as built up as yours. On a side note, I really like your fuel line setup, with the fuel pressure guage. I was trying to take my fuel line off to change the fuel filter, but couldn't do it wihtout twisting the whole line around. I didn't try any further as I was afraid I might break it.

No wheel spin, you get the peak HP at higher RPM's anyway, like around 5000 - 5500 RPM's.

I finally finished off the 6AN fuel line, very expensive stuff, the fuel filter was 70 bucks alone

With the auto I just step on it and away I go. I have come up with a possible explanation: When you're accelerating to 5000 ~ 5500RPM, are you letting off the gas at all? You know when you shift gears and you loss a little momenteum from the shift, perhaps the GTech is getting confused? from this momentary laps in acceleration, and stopping the measurment before you get to a higher gear? Just a thought, I'm really jsut guessing here.

what are your 1/4 times and speed, this is what will give you a better indication of hp.

Are you sure that your meter is sitting exactly square on the windshield? From what I can read in the directions, that is critical.

it says to go through all the gears to redline...it will then flash the max. HP reading it got...

Mike, what did you get?

BTW, the accel numbers seem to be going right. I did 0-60 in my wife's Millenia in 7.7 and that is pretty much what the advertised number is....

Hmmmm, that's weird. 'Cause my stock L48 with k&n only was reading 215 without any mods last year. With all the mods you guys have, you gotta have more.

Make sure the unit is level and secured to the windshield properly. Mine kept falling off, until I used the infamous duct tape. Keep trying, and if it still not working out, drop off the car at my place for the weekend, I'll dyno it for you guys. :D

Because your weight is way too low. I doubt your car weighs 3366 with you in it and a full tank of gas.

Well I have the same numbers, I beleive that since we are going aganist wind restriction and drag against the ground unlike a chassis dyno. My best was 202 hp, with a 0 to 60 at 5.26. thats in auto with 383

Wayne do you still have the 6000 rpm limiter chip in, also you have moved your true redline well up the tach with you new mods, I wouldn't be surprised if it would pull to 6800 no problem, wouldn't want to do it on a regular basis but it is there for you.

F=m*a ie. force = mass times acceleration

(3800/3366)*195 = 220

i'm getting 230hp with a 3700 pound setting.

these things sure seem accurate on 0-60 and 1/4 mile.

I don't know how they could be that far off on hp.
