Vette meeting in Gemund , Germany.
Hi
Today, I drove 180 KM one way to Gemund in Germany , where a Vette metting was held.
Good organisation , nice Vettes.
Also a few Cobras ( replicas ) and a couple of Rustangs made it over there.
Well, the first pic, second car from left is my 68 BB.
Second pic shows a station wagon vette, the first one I saw in reality.
Most impressive for me, the 3rd pic of a C5, with forced cooled head lights. :yesnod:
Is this homemade or standard ? The C5 had PACECAR decals all over it.
This weekend, I drove around 500 KM with my Vette with absolutely no problems. She's getting better and I start trusting her.
I keep being impressed about the brute force of the 427 CI engine .
Well, enough, here are the pics.
Gunther

Looks like Corvette guys know how to have fun all over the world:D
Gunther, those C5 lights are definately aftermarket. There have been some C5R kits around for a few years - I think Spectreworks (sp?) sells them.
The decals on the C5 could have been an aftermarket LeMans kit of even replica '98 Indy Pace Car stickers - neither of which was offered on a red car. Either way, looks like someone made a nice custom C5 out there.....
Too bad your 427 runs in front of a 4spd with no overdrive. i'd love to hear what that car would feel likeon the highway with the right gearing. Either way, I bet you turn a lot of heads in that car in Europe. :auto:

Thanks for the pics! Looks like you had a great time in there!
That C5 is after market, but have you heard that GM is making C5-R replicas only to european markets! If I'm correct only 150 will be built!
We had also Corvette meeting last weekend here in Finland. I will be posting some pics soon!

Gm doesn't make those headlights themselves due to the fact that they can't pass inspection, the headlights aren't high enough like that. The same reason why the fiats that were brought over to the states from the 70's-early 80's sat 1inch higher in the front than in europe. Doesn't meet DOT, but from what I hear, for some reason the aftermarket ones do.......wierd.
We have a red on in service right now with those headlights, it looks awesome. but the headlights are full of dirt from the fans. Guess there's no air filter. I'd put a piece of foam infront of the fans. That kit is something like 1100-1200 bucks i think.

I've seen a few of the light kits over here. The fans are apparently for the condensation that otherwise builds up in the perspex covers? Gunther, was the C5 owned by a tall dutchman by any chance?
The C3 station wagon was interesting... think of the luggage you could fit in for all that European touring!

the tall dutchman is Reinderd Richters. He has red neon tubes under the car and an alarm that barks like a dog, a led bar 4th brake light under the exhaust amongst a lot of other gimmicks :leaving:
I'm not sure that is his car, if I remember correctly his lights are black behind the covers:

That's the guy! Came across him first at Antwerp, when he had not long had the car, and since at Le Mans a few times... every time the car gets wilder!
