Glad to be here.
Just want to say hello to everyone here on the forum and introduce myself. I'm Rick and live here in Houston, Tx. were it should have ell after the H cause it is hot as H here in the summertime. Although I'm vetteless at the moment, I am actively seeking one.
I bought my first vette when I was 18, a 68' coupe. I was in the military at the time and moving around had to get rid of it. Now I'm ready for another
one and have been looking for awhile, but it seems that I'm always a day late or a dollar short, well maybe more then a dollar.
Not looking for a hot rod, more like a curiser. Small block, prefer 70-72 but looking at models up to 77. Also needs to be automatic (Houston traffic) and let's not forget a/c. Doesn't have to be mint condition, could not afford it, but it will be a daily driver, so it needs to at least be in decent shape, running and driveable. I'm a purist, so it needs to have original engine, tranny and no previous body damage.
I did for a brief moment look around at a few C4's but not being a electroincs expert, parts being pricey and shop fees, decided to go back to the 70's. I know that some parts for the 70's can also be pricey, but I can at least do the repairs.
Found this forum during my search and started to learn somethings my very first visit. So it's great to be here and looking forward to reading all the helpful posts, having a laugh or two and maybe ever find my dream car here. So if you love your baby, but need to find her a new home, I'll take good care of her.

Welcome!! In my opinion, a C3 is the most affordable "REAL" driver Corvette available. Good luck in your search.
But, you sure can *sink-hole* some money in 'em if you don't watch out.
My welcome too C3RC. Maybe post in the "C3s for sale/wanted" section what you are looking for. You never can tell.

Good luck in your search and welcome! If you want to save a little dough on your purchase you might extend your search years to include up to 82. The extra room in the back in those years makes it a little less claustrophobic, but be forewarned that glass does not open on the back until (can't find the year, but I know they are fixed in 79). HP was up somewhat in 78 and up as compared to 75-77. I picked my 79 up last year for under 6K and drove it home from Boston to SW FL. Sure it needed (and still needs) some work, but I could drive it every day as I worked on it. I'm in it for around 8K and I've had the suspension completely rebuilt. I KNOW I could not find a car that is as much fun to drive or perfoms as well for that amount of money, unless I maybe found a rustang, but I don't think those hold their resale value as well.
You're also right about repairs and parts being cheaper, especially if you can do some of the work yourself. I couldn't imagine trying to turn wrenches on a C4

1982 was the only year for the pop up rear glass.

And that was with the CE only.

And the flat glasses (68-77) were no longer removable after 72.
