Default Need Advise on Rear Window in a 77

On my 77 the fit and finish between the fiberglass rear deck and the window leaves a lot to be desired. It just does not look right. The edge of the fiberglass is not perfect where it meets the glass. Don't know how to explain it better than that.

Is there anybody who sells any type of molding or rubber edging the can be run around the entire edge of the window that would look good. I thought about using some sort of black silicon rubber caulk of some sort. Don't know if I could lay a bead around the window that would be small, consistent, and nice looking.

The window does not leak. Just looks like crap when you look close at it.

Any Ideas?

Go to a local car glass shop and ask for a roll of 3/8 butyl tape. This is the correct repair material. The finished look is not pretty, but its factory correct.
Since your car is red, I suppose you could pick up some of that plast-dip stuff they sell to coat tools and paint it on the gap to improve the appearance.

This Butyl tape is the way the cars came from the factory?

They just kind of crease it in the middle and stick it around the window? It and stretch or compress so it can go around the corners? I suppose this stuff would be around 1/16 thick and maybe 3/8 to 1/2 wide.

The plastic dip idea is kind of clever. :yesnod:
