I have been trying for some time to find my dad's '68 he bought new and traded in on a pontiac lemans in 71,(noone said he was brilliant! :)). We found the original 1968 registration! I am looking for avenues to see where the car currently is,(obviously carfax won't work - any companies I can use?).
Here is the vin:

It was a British racing green convertible with a 427/400 4 speed, tan leather interior, power windows, a/c, 3.08 rear end, redline tires, etc.. fully loaded in otherwords.
I am thinking of contacting Pro Team and seeing what they can do. Anyone else I should think of?

Have you tried the Registry of Motor Vehicles in your state?
It might still be in Virginia and they would have the current owner on file.
Also, if you know anyone on th epolice force they might be able to do a VIN search for you much as they do for stolen cars when they are found abandoned.

Ijust tried it and there are some sites there that might help you.
Carfax was one of them but I didn't actually go into any of them but it might also be worth a try.

Your car is not there, but you can enter the info that you have - you don't need to own a car to to register it. There are a few "searching for vette with this vin number" websites around, but I don't think they get all that much traffic. Proteam..... I think they can built it for you if you can't find it... :lol: (Just kidding) MJ

Make friends with a Cop or a Dispatcher, they can try to run the VIN# for you in there data base which would cover all states.
