Default 1980-81's with 700R4 transmissions .....

Bow Tie Overdrives FINALLY has a crossmember for the '80-'81's for the 700R4. This crossmember will also let you do true dual exhaust without having to swap in an earlier year crossmember that won't just bolt right in.

Check it out here - http://www.700r4.com/catalog/catalog...php?ITEMID=265 --- $180.00

82 came with a 700R4, that is why i don't understand why the drive shaft wont fit an earlier c3 without having to cut ours...is the tranny or rearend in a different spot?

Driveshaft won't fit because the 7004R is longer.

I've had the crossmember for quite some time now in my 81, probably 2 years I think.

BTO listed a up to '79 crossmember before, but never a 80-81. I had to put a stock 1979 crossmember in my car when I went to duals (can't do duals with the 80-81 member) and then welded a bracket for the 700R4. The stock pre-80 member won't line up with all 6 bolts and only 4 are holding my car together now.

I will switch to the new BTO crossmember the next time I have to drop the crossmember. I don't like how the 1979 version does not bolt up with all 6 bolts.

'82's won't allow dual exhaust. This would fit into a 1982 if you wanted to do duals.
