Leak from Speedo Cable -- not at trans!
I had my car up on jackstands today and noticed a leak that appears to be coming from the speedometer cable. In the middle of the cable, theres a connector that is wet with trans fluid. What's up with this? I can post a pict if necessary. Yuck.

Check the vent tube on your transmission, might be building up case pressure forcing the fluid up there. Lucky it's there and not blowing out of the dipstick tube.

On the TH400 it's on the passenger side, up high. Not sure where it is on the 700R4, but it should be visible. Look high up on the trans on both sides, looks like a little goose neck made from small diameter tubing. You could also have a bad seal in the fitting where the cable attaches to the trans
