Hot lead for the distributor is not getting power????
I am working on a 73 right now. When you turn the key the hot lead from the solinoid is not getting power. This is the first time i have encountered this problem. Any suggestions on a rememdy? My first thought was a bad ignition switch????

When you say the hot lead from the solenoid, are youy referring to the (maybe 10 gauge) red wire connected to the big post that powers all the accessories? If so, you probably have a bad fuse link on that wire. I thought your post referred to the hot lead to the ignition? If that is the case, check fuses, then anti-theft system, wiring, etc.

No, this is the small wire that mounts next to the one you mentioned on the solenoid. It is either pink or orange. It goes from the solenoid to the distributor.

It must be connected to the "extra" (binding only) terminal on the solenoid. My 75 schematic doesn't show that wire, altough I believe it has nothing to do with the operation of the starter. If you look carefully at the ignition switch, each wire location is usually marked with a function. Suppose you could start there, assuming the fuses are all good.
