Bellhousing for a 427 MT
Hi Guys,
Just realized my Lakewood bellhousing was madly abused by a torch and a stupid brain on it's last visit to a so called "mechanic". It got to a point that's not usable anymore. I think they modified an automatic to a MT bellhousing... oped a hole or made the fork hole larger...something like that...anyway that sucks!
I found now 3 GM aluminium bellhousings to chose from. The casting Nrs are as follows:
6263756
3858403
469486
Which one would fit the 68' L-36 427? Thanks for the help.

Re: Bellhousing for a 427 MT (Daniels)
The car has a 4 speed MT. The new 427 engine I bought has an 11" centerforce clutch attached.
The old engine where the Lakewood bellhousing was attached was a 4 bolt 400ci engine which the previous owner had installed... For the records...

I think the number your looking for ends in #621 to fit the 11" clutch and if your interested I have a NO crack #621 in nice shape or a nice (NOT abused) Lakewood scattershield out of a Corvette race car, your choice $150+UPS e-mail direct if interested redvetracr@msn.com

I'm not sure about the other 2, but "403" is for 10.5" clutch.
You need either the #s: 621, 444 or 768 (I think) for 11' clutch.
There are few available on Ebay now (up to $85).

The one on my '68 L-36 is a #621. I don't have an extra to sell, though. Try e-bay. Hemmings also has them listed. There is a fellow named Ken with a 330 area code (NE Ohio) that has a ton of old Chevy parts that advertizes in the Corvette and Camaro parts sections. Try him. My friend checked with him a year ago for a #621 and he wanted $100.

Thanks for the info guys! I'll set my eyes then for a 621.
By the way, do you know about any sites on the net where I can check from which cars the above bellhousings came?
the 3838403 I found was used on models 64-69, 283-350ci but the other 2 I couldn't find.
