75 BBC Stingray

Just curious who is running this cam. I did a search through the archives, but I didn't see anyone having it. Maybe someone has it now?!?!?!

I'm wondering what it sounds like, feels like, etc.

In case you are not familiar with the cam, here are the specs.

I will be running a 454 +.030, with a ACCEL BBC Super-ram setup. The car will have a manual transmission (if I'm lucky a ROD 6-speed). No heads decided on yet, but I'm leaning toward the BRODIX OEFI aluminum oval port. (Looks like they flow the same as the Edelbrock, but with a 30cc smaller port - I would think that would mean a higher port velocity and better torque down low...) Oh yeah, I don't plan on going above 5,500 with the engine. Comments????

I am running a Crane Hyd Roller in my 350 with 222/230 duration and it starts to come on at about 1800 rpm's in 4th and pulls hard to 6000 rpm's so I would think you could run more duration in a bb say my another 10 degrees on each side and still have tons of torque plus some extra for when you 'need' it. :thumbs:

BTW I am putting a 383 stroker in and think it will be borderline to small of a cam.

75BBC, I don't have that exact cam, but mine is similar. Its a Crane Powermax 296-2, at .050 lift it has 236 \246 duration and lift is 553 \ 573. The lobe separtion is 114. It has a power band of 3000-6500. Its a very good setup, but I could probably used something not quite so wild. Torque is very good down low, but not uncontrollable. I never run my motor any higher than 6k, thats plenty of revs for our big rats! According to you specs it sounds like a great choice, I was concerned about making too much torque, did not want to break parts the first day I drove it! My engine sounds fantastic, really hot, you should like the 288.

I was seroiusly considering that cam, but AFR suggested something a bit different (but not much).

Mine is a 230/230, .578/.578, 110 LSA

With a 454 w/ 9.5:1 CR, it idles great, driveability is so incredible it is downright silly. I'm running an RPM AirGap intake with the AFR heads and a Holley 950 HP carb.

Dyno #s are below in sig. Peak HP is at 5600, but doesn't fall off til past 6300rpm and peak TQ is at 4400rpm.

Well, It's good to know I'm not completely off base with my cam selection... I've already purchased the cam, so I'm pretty much locked into the selection.

WA 2 FST - I checked your website, and I was very happy to see you made those numbers with 3.36 rear-end gears. I was originally planning 3.08's, but I had rethought and wanted something lower, but not any lower than the 3.36's...

I may end up dropping down to 3.08 gears. With the stock 454 HO (334rwhp/384rwtq), the 3.36s were fine. With the new combo, it just smokes tires deep into 3rd if I get 'em spinning in 1st (which takes about 1/2 throttle). 3.08s would obviously help that, although they probably wouldn't alleviate the problem.

And I'm running Z-rated 285mm wide 17" tires, too.

Well, maybe I should rethink the 3.36's... I know the Big Block from Hell series used 3.08's to keep from smoking the tires all the time...
