Default Steering

I just had everthing but my pit man arm replaced in the front end. It rides very well except for some extra play in the steering wheel. I know that there should be a couple of inches of play either direction but it seems that it's more than that. Is this a lash adjustment ? If so, is this something I should tackle myself or is it back to the shop I go ?

I adjusted mine at the steering box by loosening the nut, turning the screw about half of a turn, and re-tightening the nut. Play went from 2 inches or so to none.

You MUST make the pitman shaft (side cover) adjustment with the gear right on center. Please go to http://www.corvettefaq.com and look in the Steering section. Download the following:

Manual Gear Adjustment - (in vehicle)

It will explain the procedure quite thoroughly.
