Did I see a real L88 in Jackson, MS today?
I don't know much about L88's, but I know there aren't a whole heck of a lot of them.
I was dropping a friend of mine off at the Midas on Hwy 80 in Pearl today and I went in with him to pay. Of course I noticed the C3 in the shop. Then I noticed the L88 badge on the hood.
I asked, "Does that hood say L88 on it"? Mngr siad, "yep". Apparently, the car is in to have some custom exhaust work done.
I know this is dumb, but I don't remember what color it was. I want to say yellow, but I have yellow C3 on the brain 'cause of the article in Motor Week on that ZL-1 on page 31.
Does anybody know if this was the real deal or just a "replica"? Is the faking of these pretty widespread? I can't stand that crap.
Thanks

Only way to know for sure is with authentic documentation. If I owned an L-88 I wouldnt have work done to it at a muffler shop during regular business hours without me right there. Must be pretty fun to own a car that rare.

I don't think there were L-88 emblems. Just a raised hood with 427 emblems and all the real proof underneath with aluminum heads.

Documentation is the key.....I had work done on mine all the time at Boyds Brake shop in NM. I would leave it here with Mickey and know it would be okay....They wouldn't drive it outa the lot though for a road test with-out me being there and then only Kevin Boyd would test it, aside from me...it was in the trust of the shop, you can have good people do good things for you. :smash: :smash:

This one had a cowl induction type hood and had an emblem in block letters that said L88.
So he was just a poser, or his car had a "heart transplant". My guess is poser.
Oh well, guess I got all excited over nothing.

I agree with the post above... L88's for 68/69 didndt have L88 badges on the hood ... it said 427. I learned that after a trip the the NCM and they had high octane warning label on the console. :chevy :auto:
