Recently had a tranny temp sending unit welded/brazed into the tranny pan and noticed a funky "sugary" (like cake icing) substance around the brass welding (is it "brazing" w/ brass?) that was used on the sending unit (also brass).

Does tranny fluid have a reaction with this brazing? Even though the sending unit is brass, should the welder have used a different material?

Luckily, the vehicle was never run (since I noticed it leaking and removed the pan), so nothing went to clog the tranny filter.
