L-48 Intake Plug? What is this thing?
On my Intake manifold, there is some kid of plug or sensor just adjacent to the thermostat housing that has broken. It has a spring-loaded metal rod inside it. Can anyone help me identify what the heck this is?
Sorry no pic.

That's a TVS (Thermal vacuum switch) used to control the flow of vacuum from one of the emissions components to the carb. Not sure which one it is. I think it goes to the EGR valve. I took all that junk off mine.

Will the car run okay without the EGR valve? I don't know if there is one on my motor or not. May have already been removed.

So, should I just yank this thing and replace it with some kind of plug? All emissions equipment is gone on this engine already. :D
