I seem to remember a song from the late '60s that was about The SS396 but that is about all I remember about it. Can anybody help?

That is not the song I was thinking of. The one I'm trying to remember, it seems like, sounded something like the music from Iron Butterfly's "Ina-Gada-Da-Vida" S-S-three-nin-ty-six-_-_-_-S-S-three-nin-ty-six-_-_-_ . A friend of mine had it on a 45 back in the late '60s early '70s. It was a good song. Have never heard it anywhere else. Thought maybe it was for an ad?

I've heard that song before, at a car show I think, but I've had no luck in digging it up. None of the car nuts seem to remember the song either.....

Called my buddy today that had that old 45. He couldn't remember the group that did the song either but he said the record may still be at his mother's and if he could find it he would let me know. But he didn't think it was Paul Revere and The Raiders.

I don't know a 60's version, but I know Bruce Springsteen did one. It was pretty decent but had a couple of tech glitches in it...something about some fuelie heads or something!!

But I always actually liked the song. Got it somewhere on a cassette. Somewhere past the 8 tracks!

Hold on...I just zoned back in....I Do remember that song. In fact a buddy of mine has it on a 45!! His wife knew a guy at a radio station and she got her hands on a promo record from Chevrolet for the new '67 Camaro, and on the flip side is the SS396 song! It does exist!!

I have this song in my car...you can get it on the Album "Hot Rod Rock" or just get Paul Revere and the Raiders Greatest Hits. Even my two-and-a-half year old daughter knows the words now. It's fun to listen to her sing to the song. She also knows other car songs by the Beach Boys, Jan and Dean, as well as one-hit-wonders like Little GTO, Hey Little Cobra, Beep-Beep and she's beginning to pick up Hot Rod Lincoln. It's great when she's sitting in the car saying "I wanna hear 409 Daddy!!!"

My niece, when she was around 5, just loved 409 and wanted to listen to it, funny. Those sound like the words but I'm not sure? Thanks for the reply.
