Cooler Engineoil ..
I was sitting and having a beer( Ok,3-4 beers) and was thinking of how to cool down the oil.And this is what i came up with..
Weld some tubes at the bottom of the pan,so the air passing under the car can flow "through" the pan and hopefully help cool the oil..Any ideas?

Interesting Idea, one problem i can see would be reducing the overall oil capacity. Perhaps using a ribbed pan would be better, increase the surface area of the pan in the same manner w/o reducing capacity.

How hot does your oil get? According to David Vizard's book, coolant temps of 170 and oil temps of 215 are optimal for maknig HP. :D

You want the oil to be a minimum of 215°- in order to evaporate any condensation in the oil. If you don't get the oil to at least that temperature the moisture in the oil will turn to somewhat of a sludge and will create a buildup in the oil pan and lifter valley area. If is never a good idea to run an oil cooler unless it is absolutely needed.

I've never seen it for an oil pan, but they make a trans pan just like that.
Why don't more cars have oil temp gauges?
Why don't cars have trans fluid temp gauges?
Why don't cars even have "idiot" lights for those?

Why not just run and engine oil cooler( just like an external tranny cooler). It would probably be cheaper in the long run.
My Jimmy has one. A large stacked plate cooler with internal bypass for when the oil gets too cold. It gets the oil from an adapter between the block and the oil filter. Most trucks with a towing package have an oil cooler( GM's at least)
