Default Can you pull the torque converter without pulling the whole tranny in a c3?

I just got done putting in a BTO 700r4 and new engine. I went with a 2400 stall because BTO recommended it and said he didnt think I would like having a 2800 or 3000 stall on the street even though my cam calls for it. He said to try the 2400 and I could get the 2800 at No charge after if I wanted it. Well..I want it. But I just got done doing a ton of work to the car and dont want to have to pull the whole damn tranny again.

So is there anyway in a c3 to get that converter out just by pulling the tranny back or something? Probably not. I know how difficult these things are. Anyways...any suggestions?

There is most likely not enough room to move the converter off the trans input shaft. If you went to the trouble of unbolting from the engine, all lines etc and moved it back to the rear possibly, but it would be balancing on the crossmember. I think pulling the trans is the safest way to go.

Hmmm. The Magic 8 Ball says:

"There is a Transmission Removal in your future"

...and we all know, the Magic 8 Ball does NOT lie. Happy wrenching! :yesnod:

I would think that with the 700r4's steep first gear and 3.55 gear you might be closer to the 2800 stall characteristics with a th350/400 in it.
