ac has a leak somewhere...
where should i start looking? i fully charge it up with r12, and for about a month it's nice and cool. and then it's gone. it's leaking out somewhere. what's the best way to find out where it's leaking?
i bought one of those r134a change-over kits(the one's that use the stock compressor), but don't want to do it till i find the leak. thanks

Look for oil appearing on the outside of hoses, fittings, and components. Also around your charging fittings, the valve cores often leak. I bought an electronic leak detector off ebay for $25 that works greats. I tried the UV stuff and it didn't work. Try this link for extra info

the dye wokrs most of the time for me (UV), but a detector is also a good way to do it. r12 is heavier than air so itll be a leak on a bottom of a hose or a componet. try looking under everything

One easily overlooked spot is where the condensate drains from the evaporator coil. Refrigerant leak will show up there if there is a leak anyplace in the coil. Be sure the fan has been off for a while.
