Default 68' wiper and cowl area paint questions

Hi Guys,
I'm in the middle of a frame off restoration on my 68 427 convertible. At
this point I'm half the way with the bodywork; a couple of weeks ago I
removed the front clip to be able to repair the rust holes on the birdcage
and windshield frame and last weekend I managed to finish that part. All
welding has been completed and the fiberglass deck has been sealed and
riveted back to the birdcage.

I have several questions regarding this matter, which I hope you can help me out with. The fiberglass deck under the cowl (what's the proper name for
this part?) has been cleaned out to the bear fiber. Black semi gloss epoxy
paint was applied to the firewall and to the fiberglass deck under the cowl
to leave a smooth finish.

Question 1
Should this area (fiberglass deck under the cowl)be painted matching the
car's color? Can it remain black same as the engine bay?

Question 2 I removed a lot of hard bodyshutz and dirt from this
area; should there be any bodyshutz / chassis seal be applied on this area?

Question 3 The wiper support plates which are bolted to the birdcage side
were all rusted (left and right side), where can I get this parts from?

Question 4 The oval ventilation doors on the bottom part of the birdcage (LH
and RH) were also rusted on the bottom part, where can I get this parts from?

Thanks for your time and help!

yes it should be black

If you don't seal the joints where the panels come together you will get leaks through the firewall.

Question 3 The wiper support plates which are bolted to the birdcage side

I got these used from a Corvette salvage yard. There used to be a list of used parts dealers on the forum somewhere.

Question 4 The oval ventilation doors on the bottom part of the birdcage (LH
and RH) were also rusted on the bottom part, where can I get this parts from?

Again you may want to try a locate used parts

I hope this helps. Craig

Thanks Craig,
It was good to read a response finally. I'm planning to give the cowl area and firewall a second layer of paint tomorrow.
Good thing I didn't apply any bodyshutz there, probably it was the previous owner who did that trying to seal that area.

Used a polyurethane sealant and riveted everything back together, I don't think there will ever be some leaks.

The used parts dealers, do you have some you could recommend, or do you know any with websites? What's the real word for this wiper support plates?

Thanks again
