If you try a Google search for "Vintage License Plates" you will find several people that sell them. You can also find someone selling them at most car shows. Or ask around. Turns out that my father's next door neighbor had a perfect set of old plates for my car.

That's a good price, the best price I could find for a pair of unused like new 69 plates was $65.00.

Contact Larry Machacek of Porter Texas, (281) 429-2505. He has NOS texas plates. Also has original inspection stickers.

You should try to find: 171 LSV
You can find used plates really cheap on Ebay...like $15-$30 for a pair...or you can wait for the Autorama at the Astrohall, and many vendors sell old Texas license plates...there will be hundreds there, and you can pick a number/letter pattern you like....
and two funny asides: I just got a 1970 MGB GT a few weeks ago, and last week I saw a plate on a Honda in front of me at a light with the alphanumeric: 370 MGB (too bad the build date isn't March of '70)
BUT EVEN BETTER!!! At the car show last week, I looked at a '69 GTO Judge Convertible, and the license plate was 410 LAW ... and it was absolutely coincidence that the letters were LAW, as this was a letter pattern designated to his hometown of Tumwater, WA.
