Two thumbs up for the vette. A wreck today.
I was goin' down 237-W(in the fast lane) and there was a bag of garden debris in my lane. I slalomed around it, minimized the amount of time I was in the other person's lane and everything was fine. The person behind me just barely made it... I was watching my rear view mirror to make sure everything was okay.
The person behind them did NOT use the #2 lane. Instead, they tried using the shoulder. (Not enough room to get past that bag on the shoulder, not to mention that the shoulder is covered in debris anyways.) They tried to come back in too fast and hit the bag, then spun around backwards. They couldn't get the car back in line(at that point, it's nigh impossible) and went right into the center divide.
I did check the CHP incident site after, the person's all right.
Thank god for AutoX and the 'vette's great handling skills and power. :)

Great handling makes up for lack of airbags  The original brochure of my 77 lists seat-belts as a safety feature!

Cool (well - for you).
I've had a couple similar situations (without the vette),
Once coming home from skiing late at night - broken down car in the left lane.
My Mustang just made it out of the way - then started sliding.
I brought it back the other way - sliding sideways again.
After about 4 times back and forth - pulled it straight. Wheew .. still cautious in that area to this day.
Next was on the way to work in the rain. Some bonehead was crossing two
lanes to get to his exit. I was in the way. I moved so he wouldn't hit me. He
freaked - overreacted - and went into a spin. He ended up in the middle lane,
facing the wrong direction with a 18 wheeler coming straight toward him.
Lucky for him - the truck had good brakes.
 Drive defensively (unless no-one else is around)

I can't tell you enough- it was surreal, today.
My eyes followed that car in the rear view mirror. I should have stopped, but this was a freeway where average traffic is > 75 mph, and there was a block of traffic when it happened.
It wasn't unlike watching a movie in my rear view mirror - that spectacular...
I checked out the CHP website after, like I said. I'm amazed she was talking about it to the CHP officer.

I was driving to work one fine sunny sping day when I spotted a man on a large garden tractor mowing some grass on the right side of the road. This is a small back-road type area. Not cramped or anything, nice 'Vette road really. Anyhow, the dude on the mower was perpendicular to the road facing away. Without even looking he backs up taking up half my lane..... I was two car lengths away traveling at 55. It was close but the car didn't even complain, dart left, dart right, then back up to speed. (albiet with one :cuss :mad driver.) MOW-ron never even knew I was there until I was past him. A quick shot of throttle through flowmaster 40's get's your attention even if you are wearing ear cups. :reddevil

That guy deserves as much poopie as whichever person decided not to stop and get a 2 foot tall bag of garden debris that fell off their truck. You have every right to be furious.

Alright Steve, get your butt into Speedring  You want to work on your hand-eye coordination and collision avoidance? Let's get you on the track when we have 13 other (*AHEM* insert certain "non-driving" nationality here) on the track. OMG! Sometimes it's just heinous anarchy trying to work a corner with people who can't drive, let alone ask them to pay attention.
