Default OT: Catalytic Converter

The cats on my Suburban 350 are partially clogged. Any recomendations for high flow cats?

Dynomax makes a stainless steel high-flow cat (they say flow area is 26% greater than stock converters) for around 100 bucks. You can get them through Jeg's.

While we are on the topic, how can you tell when your converter is plugged? What would be the signs that has problems? I suspect my '80 may have the original and now I wonder if I should not change it out at some point.

My sub has over 100k miles and my brilliant son recently emptied his outboard motor gas tank into the sub tank. The outboard gas had about 10% outboard oil.
Since then my OBDII "Service Engine Soon" light occasionally sets.
Sub seems to run OK with no noticeable decrease in performance but my mechanic says it would run much better with a current design, high flow cat.

My beater is a '83 Cadillac DeVille which had a really restrictive cat from the factory (the old pancake style). I got a direct fit Catco brand from summit for $80. I was pleased to find that for once direct fit actually MEANT direct fit. Very easy install. It made a big difference in power for that car as the old cat was also partially plugged. Increased highway mileage from 22mpg to 25mpg.

So Catco direct fit is on the Zwede approved list. :D
