Default 82 sending unit and fuel pump

i decided to use an 82 corvette sending unit in my tank for the fuel setup with the TPI. i received the fuel pump and the sending unit but i don't see exactly how they want you to attach the fuel pump to the sending unit. does it just sit on the perch and get held in place by the pressure from the rubber hose that is connected to the top of the fuel pump and the fuel line of the sending unit?

or should i use some kind of clamp?

Yes, that holds it in place quite well, the sock that goes over the end of the pump will hold the bottom a bit also. '82 on the left

Send your 82 fuel pump back. They are weak, you might expect 13 to 15 pounds of pressure at idle. but after that pump gets broken in, you will only get about 8 or 9 pounds of pressure at WOT....

Every Crossfire owner knows to upgrade the 82 / 84 pump to an 85 or newer version....
Your best bet is to get an LTI pump. I forget what year they started using the LT1, but its has the best output fuel pump.

Hope this helps. :seeya
