Default Header bolts?

OK, don't laugh, :lolg: but, what size bolts do I need for a header install?? 3/8 - 16 X 3/4 lg.? The length is really my concern, I/m 99% positive on the 3/8 - 16.

Thanks!!!!

The package of header bolts I have says exactly that, 3/8"-16 x 3/4". I don't remember how much the whole package cost but I got them at a local auto store, unless you're looking for something special.

Get "header" bolts, they have a little smaller heads then regular ole bolts that make it easier (possible) to clear the pipes with a wrench

I've always used, for 35 years, Stainless Allen bolts. Tightened with allen
wrench and small box end for additional leverage, they just don't come loose.
Regular header bolts leave a lot to be desired. It's a personal preference
thats worked for me. On one or two you may have to grind the head smaller to
fit depending on brand of header you install. Besides they are nicer looking
that header bolts. Steve

get stage 8 header bolts from summit or jegs
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...art=STG%2D8911

they have allen heads and locking clips so they won't come loose unless you want them too

:iagree: I also recommend getting the aluminum gaskets as well for both the headers and collectors

I just put headers on myself. The "kit" had 3/4" length. In my opinion, they are too small. I used grade 8 bolt that are 1" long. They fit fine. I checked individual holes, some of them can even accept 1 1/4". I strongly recommend using 1" length.

Good luck.

Mine just arrived via the big brown truck the other day. If I have time this weekend I'll be intstalling the Earl's aluminum gaskets and Stage 8 locking bolts. They look pretty sweet.

Always remember to 'clean' the threads first. Run a tap through first.

Stainless, allen head, and small diameter hex head all in one bolt with locking clips. These WILL NOT back out.

for the last few years i have used copper flange and collecter gaskets with stainless alian head bolts and lock washers. they worked ok then i put on aluminum collecter gaskets and loved them so i put on aluminum flange gaskets and the stage 8 bolts. i love it like this i have absolutly no leaks at all

does stage 8 have collecter bolts like this?

Those were the ones that I was looking at, but the guy at Summit said that the Earl's were the best. He said that if the Earl's gaskets won't seal it, then it's time for new headers....
