From the "Corvette Black Book" by Mike Antonick, I can tell you that 53,807 '79 Corvettes were produced, 14,516 had the L82 option, 4,062 had the 4-speed manual trans close ratio (RPO MM4) option, and 41,454 had the Auto Trans (RPO MX1). A 4-speed manual trans was standard. So, if I'm doing this right, there were 12,353 with 4-speeds (4,062 of which were the close ratio).
I don't know if there are records that will tell you exactly how many '79 L82's had 4-speeds.
